Retrovation is a constant process. From time to time you can expect me to pick up my mouse and engage in some more doodling. Now and then check this page for the latest products of my feverish imagination.
My factory2 was starting to look tatty so I decided to replace it with this spiffy Tudor sweatshop. This is an update. As of 15 March 1997, this tile has been included in both the Mac and Windows versions of Ian's Retro Tiles-normal. If you have downloaded the latter after the above date, you already have this tile.

I'm not a church-going guy so I didn't lavish much attention on my neighbourhood houses of religion. But then I saw a picture of this Bavarian country church and just had to add it to my collection. "That old amphitheater is a disgrace," said Julia Maesa to her grandson, still sprawled on the couch of his most recent debaucheries. "The God Vespasian will wax angry over the state of his stadium."
"Oh come on, granny - old Vespy a god? He was just an emperor. You know there is only one true deity. Besides, it's his own fault. He may have been good at building public toilets, but imagine making the top half of a fifty thousand seat colosseum out of wood!"
"I still say it's a disgrace. Even in provincial towns the theatres are in better shape. What self-respecting Christian would want to be eaten in a pile of rubble like that? Why, even the lions are ashamed to be seen there."
"But granny, you know how busy I am," whined Heliogabalus, slipping into a purple silk toga. "What with being both Emperor and High Priest of Baal."
"Then get one of your ministers to attend to it, dear. Someone with a bit of muscle. How about that favourite of yours, Gluteus Maximus - I'm sure he could plan a spiffy renovation."

When I found myself putting the finishing touches on St. Basil's Cathedral on Christmas day, I realized its colour scheme is modeled on holly, Santa, and candy cane. A day or two later (with the help of some e-mailed advice) I realized that the gaudy look might get a tad trying, especially with a holiday hangover. So I've toned it down as much as I can (SCURK has a limited colour selection). I've made some other improvements as well, like making the central tower look more like a vodka bottle. Otlichno, nyet? And if you still think it doesn't look enough like the real McCoyski, you might try renaming it St. Igor.
